The festive season of deals and discounts from automobile manufacturers has been on for a bit, however the deals are still on currently and if you haven’t made your purchase just yet, here’s our list of eight recently launched vehicles that are totally worth considering. They are new in the market, they are the latest on offer and they just might fit the bill of being your vehicle of choice.
- Renault Kwid
Renault decided to take on the most cutthroat segment in India with the Kwid. Its pitted right against the MSIL Alto and while that might seem like a tough fight, Renault has played it smart and launched a product that doesn’t have the traditional entry-level hatch ethos. Designed like a mini-SUV, the Kwid is also an extremely light car thanks to some innovating engineering. It is reasonably spacious and has some interesting features as well – including a touch screen infotainment system. If you want an entry-level car that isn’t plain, the Kwid is what to put your money down on. Just to let you know though, it already has over 50,000 bookings!

The Baleno is the second product from the NEXA stable and is a worthy choice for those looking for a premium hatchback. MSIL has delivered a vehicle that touches on all the right sentiments of someone looking for a hatchback that offers a premium feel. It is looks decent, comes with a ton of features including two airbags, ABS and EBD as standard and has a very spacious cabin. The fit and finish is great and the level of refinement is worth noting. The all-new Ford Figo is an exciting hatchback that is well worth your money. Ford India has packaged the car extremely well and the sheer amount of variants on offer means that there is a Figo that fits your bill for sure! The car is stylish, and comes fitted with a lot of goodies. Amongst all the variants on offer, we recommend either the 1.5 TDCi diesel or the 1.5 Ti-VCT Automatic as both of these offer the driving dynamics that one expects from a Ford. If you want a hatch that is practical and fun, this is the car to go for. If you want a bit more than just the hatch, you can also opt for the Figo Aspire which boasts of all the same merits and some added bootspace.

- The Mahindra TUV300
The Mahindra TUV300 is a winner. Simply put, Mahindra has delivered a vehicle that is refined, well built and amazingly fun to drive. Despite its small dimensions, the TUV300 has a rather spacious cabin and one of the best interiors we’ve ever seen on a Mahindra product. The three cylinder engine makes a healthy 84PS of power and thanks to the two stage turbo charger, it’s quick to react to inputs from the right pedal. Amazingly fun to drive and brilliant to take on broken roads as well, the TUV300 delivers close to what you’d expect from a bigger SUV. While on the topic of Mahindra, their two-wheeler division recently launched the Mojo which is a great machine as well.

- The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The Ertiga has made its mark as an able people mover that is competitively priced. MSIL has recently given it a makeover and freshened things up a bit visually, however the real deal lies under the hood of the diesel version as it now comes with the SHVS tech (watch: what is SHVS?) for optimal performance and better mileage.

The Ford EcoSport has been around for a while now, however the recently launched refreshed version is what we’re talking about here. The new EcoSport diesel now sports a 1.5 litre TDCi engine that delivers 100PS of power –a much needed boost. If you are indeed looking for a small car, but want something beyond just a run-of-the-mill hatch, then the EcoSport with its SUV-like stance and looks ought to suit you just fine.

- The Chevy Trailblazer
GM India has launched the Chevrolet Trailblazer in India recently and it is the biggest SUV in its class currently. Its feature rich, powerful and boasts of some serious ground clearance. GM India currently doesn’t offer it with 4×4, however we know that most owners of such SUVs rarely leave the tarmac, so that isn’t much of a put-off. It is a worthy choice if you want something different from the current SUVs on offer such as the Rexton or the Fortuner.
