We aren’t quite done with the first quarter of 2017 and Audi has already brought in its third launch to India. After the new models of the A3 Cabriolet and A4 TDI, the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer has launched the 2017 Audi Q3.
The new Q3 SUV comes in two variants, both powered by a new 2-litre TDI engine, but in different states of tune – 148PS and 181PS. Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive is however available only on the higher powered variant, while the 7-speed S tronic automatic transmission is common to the both of them. With a peak torque of 340Nm, the 148PS making engine is claimed to propel the Audi Q3 from 0-100km/h in 9.3 seconds. The 2.0 TDI quattro commands a substantial 40Nm more turning force.
The exterior comes with the familiar design eleeants associated with the cars wearing the ‘Q’ badge – panoramic sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED head lamps comprised of signature LED DRLs. The difference in the two variants however is more evident inside the cabins. While the quattro version of the SUV gets sportier aluminium inlays, the interior of the 148PS variant is trimmed with streaks of a warmer “walnut brown”. Equipment on board includes hill-start assist, hill descent assist, electromechanical parking brake, parking system plus with reverse camera, and cruise control. Meanwhile, six airbags, ABS and ESP complete the safety features list. The new addition inside is the dual-zone automatic climate control which comes as standard on the 2017 Audi Q3.
Audi India has been able price both the variants rather competitively – considering that the Q cars occupy the upper echelons of the luxury crossover segment. The 148PS making 2.0 TDI with front-wheel drive is priced at Rs 34.2 lakh, but for another Rs 3 lakh, you can opt for the quattro-equipped variant (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
