We love how the words ‘edition’, ‘update’ and ‘facelift’ are used (interchangeably at times) to get a current model year motorcycle moving in the market. A dash of chrome here, a glittering 3-D logo there or perhaps some new stickers and voila! – you have yourself a reason to call it a ‘launch’.
The new blue-black scheme for the Honda Dream Yuga is the sixth colour option to be added to the range after black, red, white, black/red and black/grey. ” The new colour will bring in additional youthfulness to the Dream Yuga,” says Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. Under the new skin, however, is the same air-cooled 110cc single-cylinder engine that makes 8.25PS of power and 8.63 Nm of torque. The new colour retails at the same price as the regular Dream Yugas, at Rs 55,642 (ex-Mumbai).
Over the last four months, two-wheeler manufacturers have been adding new colours for similar reasons. We list out some of the notable new ‘editions’ launched this year:
TVS Scooty Zest Himalayan Highs edition
This variant celebrates the TVS’s entry into the India Book Of Records for becoming the first 110cc scooter to scale the formidable Khardung La in Ladakh. Rider Anam Hashim rode the wee scooter, with its tiny 109.7cc air-cooled engine, 8PS of power and a 19-litre fuel capacity, from Jammu to the 5,359m high mountain pass over a period of 20 days. The special edition Zest comes in a soft metallic brown with mirrors and switch panels to match. Anam will now be riding this new edition of the scooter to Ladakh once again with 10 other riders selected to take part in the second season of TVS’s ride called Himalayan Highs.

Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 Desert Gold edition
The new ‘Desert Gold’ Avenger Cruise 220 is supposed to be inspired by the “glamourous shades of the desert” and gets a brown seat and back support upholstery to off-set all that bling. Can this motorcycle wade through sand and climb over dunes? Well, no – it’s a cruiser. But it will match the backdrop perfectly as you ride it through a desert and don’t go off the tarmac.

Price of the regular variant: Rs 85,497 (ex-Delhi)
TVS Star City+ Chocolate Gold edition
The new colour scheme for the TVS Star City+ called ‘Chocolate Gold’ was introduced to “cater to the popular colour preference of motorcycle buyers.” The Star City+ Chocolate Gold edition runs the same 110cc air-cooled engine as the other colours, producing 8.30PS at 7,000 rpm and 8.70Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm mated to a four-speed gearbox.
