The Hyundai Xcent has been given a makeover and the new one boasts of fresh styling, a new diesel engine and a long list of features. Keeping with Hyundai’s strategy, the new Xcent has been offered at a lucrative price point and will also be exported to numerous other countries.

In terms of the visual upgrade, the Xcent now sports a look that is more in sync with Hyundai’s design philosophy. You get the cascade design grille, chrome slats, swept back headlamps as well as LED DRLs. The silhouette remains the same, however at the rear, the Xcent gets a neat two piece wrap around tail lamp and a dual tone bumper that comes with reflectors. Apart from that, the new Xcent also gets a shark-fin antenna, chrome door handles and ORVMs with turn indicators. An interesting bit of kit that the Xcent has been given in this refresh is the wheel air curtains which is said to improve aerodynamic stability. The cabin of the Xcent has received a fair bit of love as well and comes with a host of features that includes the 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus a Mirror Link to offer the best in terms of connectivity. You also get steering mounted controls, a smartphone holder with a charging port and a gear shift indicator. Other creature comforts include the fully automatic temperature control, rear AC vent, a cooled glove box, tilt steering, push button start, lots of storage space within the cabin and a 407 litre boot.
As far as engine options are concerned, the new Xcent gets the 1.2 litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol unit that delivers 83 PS of power and 116Nm of torque. It comes with both manual and automatic transmission options and returns a fuel efficiency of 20.14 kmpl and 17.36 kmpl respectively. The big change however is the diesel unit. This time around, Hyundai has kitted out the Xcent with the bigger 1.2 litre U2 CRDi engine that delivers 75 PS of power and 194Nm of torque. Available with only a manual transmission, the diesel Xcent delivers a fuel efficiency of 25.4 kmpl! (All fuel efficiency figures are based on ARAI tests)
Upping their game on safety and convenience, the Xcent offers an reinforced body structure, dual airbags as standard and ABS. Other useful tools include the reverse parking sensors with camera display on the touchscreen and impact sensing auto door unlock.
