Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has given the XUV5OO a host of new technologies to keep it with the times. These include Android Auto, Connected Apps, Ecosense and Emergency Call. According to Mahindra, these tech additions have been carried out to cater to the ever evolving customer who now looks at in-car connectivity as one of the major elements while making a purchase decision.
These new features will be available on the Mahindra XUV5OO from the W6 variant onwards as standard. In addition to that, Mahindra has also introduced the XUV5OO in a new Lake-Side Brown colour with premium black interiors. This new colour will only be offered on the W10 variant for now.
Speaking about the tech changes to the XUV5OO, Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said,“When it was launched in 2011, the XUV500 broke new ground in automotive technology with several innovative technology firsts to its credit. We continued with this focus, adding more sophisticated and hi-tech features in the New Age XUV500 in 2015. Now, with the introduction of these new technology features, such as Ecosense and Android Auto, we have further pushed the boundaries to set new benchmarks in the SUV category. As a pioneer in providing technology accessible to the consumers, we have always strived to stay ahead of the curve in the realm of technological offerings. Our new offering in the XUV500 will enhance the in-vehicle experience further and will make driving even more comfortable, pleasurable and efficient”.
Pricing for the XUV500 W6 variant with all these features is pegged at Rs 13.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai).
How the new tech on the XUV5OO works
Android Auto allows the user to seamlessly pair and access their android phone on the touchscreen infotainment system provided in the vehicle. The user can access calls, messages, use the navigation provided by Google Maps, play music and it even recognizes voice commands. The system is intuitive to use and doesn’t distract the driver, thus making it easier for them to focus on the road and stay alert.
Connected Apps is an industry-first feature according to Mahindra. Through the infotainment system, the owner can access the Connected Apps that include Gaana, Cricket Live, Zomato, Book My Show and numerous other useful apps at the simple click. Having said that, the owner will have to connect the infotaimnet system to a wi-fi hotspot in order to access this feature.
Again touted to be an industry-first by Mahindra, Ecosense technology has been developed to help optimize fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. Each trip is evaluated on an ‘Ecoscore’ which is based on drive parameters and much like a game, the driver gets feedback and can thus improve their driving style for a more fuel efficient ride. To make it a little more fun, Ecosense allows you to share your score on various social media platforms!
Emergency Call, or E-Call, as Mahindra likes to call it, is an automated service that dials for help the minute the airbags deploy. It is better not to test this, but you have a sense of reassurance knowing that if anything does go wrong, your car is there to make that call for emergency services.
