The much awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan will finally be launched on the 2nd of February this year. Spy pictures, sketches and a truckload of speculative claims about this new bike have been doing the rounds for the better part of last year, however the time has come for all the dust to settle and the real deal to emerge!
The Himalayan will mark the entry of Royal Enfield in the adventure touring segment. It might be new territory for the company, however one cannot discount the brand connect that Royal Enfield has with adventure biking in the country and it only makes sense to now have a product that will truly do justice to those who love a life of adventure on two wheels. Of course, the bike will have to deliver in terms of performance, comfort and capability – which we will only get to know once we get to ride it (which should hopefully be soon after the launch), but we have a gut feeling that it will find many takers (plus we are hoping that it will be priced aggressively).
Considering the way the two wheeler market has expanded in India in recent years, there is a definite need for an affordable adventure tourer. The Himalayan could just be that product to do it for the market and usher in a whole new segment in the country.
No doubt, there is a lot riding on this bike and expectations are at an all-time high as well. In just a few weeks we will get to know a lot more about this exciting new adventure tourer from the Royal Enfield stable. It is a promising new product that could find a high demand in all the export markets that Royal Enfield is present in as well. Having said that, we will continue to sit with our fingers crossed and hope that this bike delivers on all accounts.
