In this detailed review, we take a closer look at the 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift, a car that continues to focus on comfort, practicality, and strong diesel performance in a market increasingly dominated by compact SUVs. With over 200 km of driving across Bangalore's urban roads, highways, and rougher inner-city patches, we evaluate whether this premium hatchback still holds its ground in 2025.
The facelifted Altroz doesn’t bring radical design changes, but introduces subtle and meaningful updates—like a new 3D front fascia, a revised rear bumper, and an updated boot release mechanism. One of its standout features continues to be the 90-degree door opening, which makes getting in and out of the car easy—especially in tight parking spots or crowded city areas.
Step inside, and you’ll find a cabin that now feels more modern and tech-forward. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system is slick and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The new full-digital instrument cluster adds clarity and ease of use without overcomplicating the layout. The rear seat is spacious enough for two adults to travel comfortably, with improved thigh support, rear AC vents, and a centre armrest enhancing long-distance comfort.
Under the hood, the Altroz continues to offer three engine options:
1.5L Turbo Diesel (90 PS / 200 Nm) – a torquey and efficient option for highway use.
1.2L Petrol (NA) – suited for city commuting.
1.2L CNG (73.5 PS / 103 Nm) – great for cost-conscious users, with minimal compromise on boot space (still offers 210 litres).
The diesel engine remains the most engaging to drive, offering strong mid-range performance, and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Ride quality is impressive across all variants, with the suspension tuned to soak up potholes and rough roads without compromising stability. The cabin insulation is effective at urban speeds, though the diesel engine becomes audible under harder acceleration.
When it comes to practicality, the 345-litre boot space in petrol and diesel trims, wide-opening doors, and ergonomic storage options make the Altroz a genuinely useful city hatchback that’s still highway-capable.
In terms of safety and features, the Altroz comes equipped with:
6 Airbags
ESP, ABS with EBD
ISOFIX child seat mounts
Rear Parking Sensors & 360-degree Camera
Electric Sunroof
Segment-first full-digital cluster
With prices ranging from ₹6.89 lakh to ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and 22 different variants—including Smart, Pure, Creative, and Accomplished—the 2025 Tata Altroz competes directly with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20, while also overlapping with the Tata Punch in the brand’s own lineup.
If you're looking for a well-rounded, spacious, and diesel-powered hatchback in India, the Altroz remains a strong contender in 2025—one that doesn't try too hard to be flashy, but consistently delivers where it counts.
