Ola cabs in India has now partnered with BMW in order to extend its ‘Lux’ service. This is the part of the fleet that comprises of luxury cars that can either be booked via the Ola app or rented on an hourly basis.
Through this partnership, BMW will not only be providing its models as cabs but also offer 100 per cent financing to fleet operators over a period of four years. There is also the option of assured ‘buy-back’ for the car purchased and used as an Ola taxi, at the end of the four years. This has been instated to allow drivers to securely invest in the cars. BMW will also be offering training to drivers in order to help them learn of the special safety and technology functions of the cars.
BMW’s pre- and post-sales services will be available for all cars in the fleet. In order to make the servicing of the cars economical, the German manufacturer is also offering its special maintenance packages - BMW Service Inclusive Plus and BMW Repair Inclusive – valid up to three years or 1 lakh kilometres.
The Ola Lux service is currently available in select cities. Taxi operators in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru will be the first to avail benefits of the BMW-Ola partnership. Minimum charge for hailing a BMW Ola Lux cab is Rs 250, after which Rs 20-22 is chargeable per kilometre. The BMW cabs will come equipped with regular Ola Lux facilities like SOS buttons and Wifi on the go.

Besides the Bimmers, the fleet also comprises cars from the other two German heavyweights – Audi and Mercedes – and specifically the Toyota Camry. In Mumbai, the Ola Lux will be a direct contender to the Uber Black service in which the luxury cars range from Mercedes-Benz S-, GLA- and GLC-Class, and Volvo XC90 to the likes of the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Phantom.
