The new XL6 from NEXA is all about upping the game. The premium people mover has gone through a mid-life makeover that includes design changes and the addition of a host of new features that have vastly improved it as a product.
XL6
The NEXA XL6 has been tweaked to offer a more premium aura. To start with, it comes in a host of new colours including a brand-new shade of blue that looks absolutely striking. In terms of design elements, the front grille has been revised to offer a bolder look with a strong chrome strip running through the middle and extending into the headlights. The headlights have a quad chamber set up with LED bulbs and the rear taillights have been revised to have a clear finish with a dash of a smoky element. The new XL6 rides on 16-inch two tone alloys which bring the whole package together.
A premium upmarket cabin is what the XL6 gets
The cabin comes in a plush black finish with a nice faux-wooden insert that runs across the dash and into the doors. The 6-seater layout ensures you have ample room on board and the 3rd row is quite decent for adults on short trips as well. NEXA is offering the XL6 with ventilated front seats, the new SmartPlay Pro infotainment system which gets voice controls and coupled with Suzuki Connect you get over 40 connected features as well. Overall, the cabin has an upmarket feel to it, which suits the personality of the XL6. The XL6 is Alexa enabled and this gives you access to a host of vehicle controls like turning on the hazard lights or even getting the vehicle to start and switch on the air conditioning from the comfort of your home!
The engine is a refined and rather silent unit that is extremely frugal!
Under the hood is the new K-Series 1.5 litre petrol engine that delivers 103PS of power and 136.8 Nm of torque. It is paired with a progressive smart hybrid system that enhances performance as well as overall efficiency. With that, the XL6 can deliver a tested mileage of 20+ kmpl! While you can get the XL6 with a 5-speed manual, the big change is the introduction of the 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. This was a much-needed upgrade that has enhanced the convenience of the XL6.
NEXA has done a fantastic job on how they have set up the XL6 as well. It drives in a rather sedan like manner which is composed at three digit speeds, and despite being a long vehicle, body roll is at a minimum on a ghat. Yes, it isn’t a vehicle that you push hard around corners and neither does it demand that, for it drives in a more linear fashion and is all about being smooth, silent and frugal. The 6-speed automatic is a big boon and does the job rather well. Never once did I find myself struggling with it for it offers smooth shifts, does a decent downshift and in the event you want to be in a lower gear, say for an overtaking maneuver, then you can also opt to use the paddle shifts!
The XL6 delivers on safety features as well. As standard across the range, it gets four airbags, hill hold assist, an electronic stability program, ABS and a tyre pressure monitoring system. In addition to that, the higher models get a 360-degree camera for added control while navigating tight parking spaces.
Overall, the XL6 ticks all the right boxes. It is spacious, stylish, comfortable, practical and frugal. That formula is apt for a market like India where a large MPV is what people want without having a hole burnt into their pocket.
Prices start from INR 11.29 lakh and go up to INR 14.55 lakh.
