One look at the teaser images released by Hyundai India today of the new Verna and you will have to agree that the car looks awesome! The Spirited New Verna, as Hyundai is calling it, aims to disrupt the mid-size sedan segment as it promises to set new benchmarks in just about every department.

In recent times, Hyundai India has made quite the statement with their products – some of which have redefined segments, while others have pioneered new ones and the Verna looks like it is destined to be a game changer yet again.
According to the release shared with us, the new Verna is inspired by sensuous sportiness and is touted to bring about an aura of instinctive beauty and desirability. Add to that, the Verna gets a new BS6 compliant powertrain that promises to deliver on both performance and efficiency.

Under the hood you can expect to find the 1.0 litre Turbo GDi petrol engine that does duty in the Venue Compact SUV, Aura compact sedan and Grand i10 NIOS hatchback. Having said that, we hope it will be offered in a higher state of tune similar to what we get in the Venue which is around 120 PS as compared to the 100 PS that the Aura and NIOS get. Either way, this engine has proved its mettle and is an extremely fun-to-drive responsive unit that will benefit the Verna for sure.
While the feature list will be massive, as is with all Hyundai products, the icing on the cake is that Hyundai will be offering the new Verna with a wide range of automatic transmission options that include an IVT (intelligent variable transmission, 6-speet AT and a 7-speed DCT!
