Before you start worrying about whether the Jeep Compass is built right or not thanks to all the news of a recall being announced over the replacement of a faulty front airbag module, remember that recalls are part and parcel of the automotive world. Companies are constantly checking and re-checking their components and the minute a fault is found, they proactively announce a recall. Basically it’s a good thing that the company is taking the right steps to fix a fault and ensuring that you remain safe.

In the case of the Jeep Compass, the recall in India was initiated after FCA US LLC made a similar announcement. The part in question happens to be loose fasteners in the front airbag module which came to the notice of the supplier who then raised the issue with Jeep. Less than 1 per cent of the Jeep Compass SUVs will be recalled and in India this has resulted in only 1,200 customers having to come in and get it fixed.

The company made it clear that while there are no related injuries, accidents, warranty claims or complaints from customers on this front, the faulty fasteners pose a threat if the vehicle is subject to an accident and they have already set in motion the plan to remedy the situation at the earliest.
